
Jeff Hicks began his professional career as a personal protection agent in Los Angeles, California. His work in the music industry took him across the United States and abroad to keep his clients safe from harm. In 1990, he accepted a patrol deputy position with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee. After three decades of service to his community, he retired from law enforcement.
The last 25 years of public safety have been spent working with law enforcement and educators to improve school safety across Tennessee and the United States. In his career, he has served as the Vice President and the President of the Tennessee School Resource Officers Association. For several years and currently, Jeff has been an adjunct instructor for the University of Tennessee Law Enforcement Innovation Center. In 2018, he was appointed to the Governor’s School Safety Working Group. He is a nationally published author on school safety and works with districts throughout the United States. He is currently serving as the school safety mentor for the Tennessee Department of Education.
In September 2024, Jeff joined Solid Ground Security Solutions as a supervisor/instructor.
